Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti's exhibition Vanity, Profanity & Worship: Jewellery from the Maltese Islands came to an end on the 26th May 2013. The exhibition was on view in the splendid historic building of the Casino Maltese, Valletta. For the first time in Malta, this exhibition brought together spectacular pieces of jewellery loaned from Maltese private and church collections which rarely, if ever, are seen in public. It was a unique opportunity to view such a collection of artistic and historic jewellery under one roof. Over five hundred jewellery items were exhibited, which provided a thorough survey of what jewellery in Malta looked like from ancient times up to the present. Jewellery sheds light on the beliefs, customs and fashions of a people and this exhibition highlighted all these aspects. The exhibition was accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue, which contains essays by scholars and specialists on subjects relating to jewellery in Malta.

Patrimonju would like to wholeheartedly thank its supporters and volunteers, and all those who helped in the making of this memorable exhibition. Special thanks go to all our esteemed lenders for their kind cooperation and generosity.
