Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti’s eleventh exhibition of Antique Furniture in Malta, is drawing the crowds to St James Cavalier.  This exhibition of 120 pieces of our best examples of 17th and 18th century furniture, accompanied by fine paintings of the same period has taken over the whole of this newest art centre.  An interesting innovation for a Patrimonju exhibition is an educational bi-lingual light and sound display which is being held at half hourly intervals in the theatre space of St James Cavalier.  This "show" gives an invaluable introduction to the evolution of our fine heritage of antique furniture, where particular pieces have been chosen to guide us through the salient characteristics of our furniture.

Commenting on the exhibition the chairman of Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti Maurice de Giorgio expressed his satisfaction at the interest this exhibition has so far generated.

“We are particularly pleased that there has been so much interest in this show which demonstrates that the viewing public are becoming ever more interested in becoming knowledgeable about our fine heritage of antique furniture.”

The exhibition which runs until 14 April is also accompanied by a lavishly illustrated catalogue raisonné of antique furniture in Malta.
