The ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Fine Arts (ICFA) will be holding their annual general meeting in Malta in October 2011. As part of this meeting, a conference entitled The Mediterranean as a Hub for Artistic Ideas is being held at Palazzo Parisio, Naxxar on Wednesday 5th October 2011. The event is organised by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti in collaboration with ICOM Malta, on behalf of ICFA.
The programme includes the following speakers:
Judge Giovanni Bonello – The Mediterranean as a Hub for Artistic Ideas
Klaus Weschenfelder – The Coburg Hedwig Beaker – the career of a glass of Mediterranean origin in art and history
Theresa Zammit Lupi – A Journey through the L’Isle Adam Manuscripts: a supreme example of 16th century bookmaking
Anne Aaserud – Hans Johan Frederik Berg, Norway’s first Orientalist and Watercolourist
Giampaolo Pes – Oriental Fascination in Italy and Italian Artists in the Orient
Ellen J. Lerberg – Jens Thiis – a young man on a grand tour
Persons attending the conference will have the opportunity to participate in the afternoon Round Table discussion about research and fine art collections.
