The general public is invited to a lecture, entitled Jewellery in the Age of Queen Victoria: a mirror to the world, that will be delivered by Judy Rudoe, jewellery expert and award winning author. The talk will be held at the Hotel Phoenicia, Valletta, on Wednesday 2nd November at 6.30pm. Attendance is free of charge and seating is on a first-come first-served basis.
Judy Rudoe has worked at the British Museum since 1974, specialising in jewellery, together with 19th- and 20th-century decorative arts. In 1984 she co-authored the two-volume Catalogue of the Hull Grundy Gift of Jewellery to the British Museum. In 1997 she organised the exhibition Cartier 1900-1939 at the British Museum and wrote the accompanying catalogue. Her latest book, Jewellery in the Age of Queen Victoria: a mirror to the world, co-authored with Charlotte Gere, was published in 2010, and won the 2011 William MB Berger Prize For British Art History.
This is the fourth in a series of talks by specialists on historical and art historical themes, that are being organised for the general public by Palazzo Falson in conjunction with Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti.
